In the book 30 DAYS TO TAMING YOUR TONGUE, the author says that when people come into her office and start to engage in gossip or ungodly talk, she points to her tongue and says, "Tongue fast!"

It reminds me of the phrase that I've heard all of my life: "If you don't have something nice to say, say nothing at all."

As I listened to stories of my husband's grandfather after his death, one of my favorites is appropriate to tell here. Papa Sikes was at the local market in a small town in New Mexico when he heard a conversation that was not very complimentary of a "scoundral" in town. In fact, they were saying things that they should not have even been repeating. When asked what he had to say about the man, Papa paused and then said, "He sure can whistle!"
