It is GOD who BLESSES and TRANSFORMS...

This is a blog for women (not just moms) who:

(1) Desire to be transformed by JESUS' LOVE, HOLINESS, AND GRACE;

(2) Believe that GOD'S WORD is the true Spirit food for HIS HOLY SPIRIT who lives within us;

(3) Submit to GOD and walk this journey of life with HIM transforming us more and more into HIS likeness.

It's a blog about the POWER OF TRANSFORMED LIVES. Let's begin with yours and mine and pass it on... 1 + 1 + 1...

Since GOD's HOLY SPIRIT lives inside a christian, let's choose to be nurtured and transformed by feasting daily on HOLY SPIRIT food - GOD's WORD - The Holy Bible..

My regular posts stopped in 2013, with a major move and the chronic illness and eventual death of our oldest daughter. Yes, we grieve daily, yet I am determined to continue to let the LIGHT of my LORD and SAVIOR shine through me. I have tried to start posting again, over the last few years, but have not been consistent. So, I think the biggest blessing for you and me both will be to intersperse some new posts while revisiting some of the former posts. Let's begin with "Oh, the JOY!" as we head into living through Fall 2019; meeting back here 1-2 days a week.

If you need daily encouragement, you will find plenty by clicky on past posts. When reading earlier posts, you will see that I often posted daily, following this format: ...Sunday in the SON, Meditation Monday, GratiTuesday, Women in the WORD Wednesday, Transforming Thursday, Family Fellowship Friday, Ketchup & Mustard Saturday.

There's a whole lot here! Take your time to browse.

Please come back and visit each week. Welcome!

Because of JESUS, we can be family,

Patti

TRANSFORMED MOMS:MOMS TRANSFORMED

Romans 12:1-2 "Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect."

YOUR GRACE STILL AMAZES ME... NOW THAT'S SMART!!!

MEDITATION MONDAY

.
"BLESSED ARE THE POOR IN SPIRIT,

FOR THEIRS IS THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN."
.
.
In our Sunday morning Bible class, we're doing a series entitled, "ONE VERSE WONDERS". Yesterday morning, Greg said he was cheating a little bit on his topic because he chose a phrase that is repeated over and over again in scripture. In fact, he even took it a little further than that! Have you ever considered why the following phrases are repeated often in scripture?
.
  • Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.

I have lived many years being motivated by guilt. I want to please God. I don't want to do the wrong thing. Recently, I've determined that thinking not to be such smart thinking. In order to please God, I need GRACE motivation.

.

Greg's class led me to think in the following way:

  1. The GRACE of God is unmerited favor that He has extended to me - the sinner; in modern day terms we might say, "He's cut me lots of slack!"
  2. The GRACE of God is what brings salvation! (Titus 2:11)
  3. The GRACE of God teaches me to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age... (Titus 2:12)
  4. The GRACE of God is used 123 times in the New Testament; it is coupled with the word PEACE for 36 of those times.
  5. The GRACE of God often begins and ends a New Testament book.
  6. Without GRACE there is no peace - just guilt; and, guilt steals joy!
  7. God reminds us about His GRACE in 2 Corinthians 12:9, "And He has said to me, 'My GRACE is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.'"

.

Today, I'm thinking that if I'm really SMART, I will meditate on verse 9 on my journey to becoming POOR IN SPIRIT.

YOUR GRACE STILL AMAZES ME...

SUNDAY IN THE SON

.
NOTE: I know it's been only a couple months since we've had this as the blog theme song, but I'm sure you'll understand as the week goes along.
.
YOUR GRACE STILL AMAZES ME
as sung by Phillips, Craig, and Dean
.
My faithful Father, enduring Friend
Your tender mercy’s like a river with no end
It overwhelms me, covers my sin
Each time I come into Your presence
I stand in wonder once again
.
CHORUS:
Your GRACE still amazes me
Your love is still a mystery
Each day I fall on my knees
Your GRACE still amazes me
‘Cause Your GRACE still amazes me
.
Oh, patient Saviour, You make me whole
You are the Author and the Healer of my soul
What can I give You, Lord, what can I say
I know there’s no way to repay You
Only to offer You my praise
.
CHORUS:
Your GRACE still amazes me
Your love is still a mystery
Each day I fall on my knees
Your GRACE still amazes me
‘Cause Your GRACE still amazes me
.
It’s deeper, it’s wider
It’s stronger, it’s higher
It’s deeper it’s wider
It’s stronger, it’s higher
than anything my eyes can see
.

CHORUS:
Your GRACE still amazes me
Your love is still a mystery
Each day I fall on my knees
Your GRACE still amazes me
‘Cause Your GRACE still amazes me.

I OFFER MY LIFE... THE CROSS PROVES MY LOVE...

KETCHUP AND MUSTARD SATURDAY
Catch Up and Must Do
Left to my own doing, I can make a mess of just about anything. Really! Yet, turning myself over to Jesus, my Savior and LORD... He cleans me up to make me ready for service in His Kingdom .
What a joy to know the Creator of the universe and be used in His service!
A few permeating thoughts, as we near the end of the month:
  • Why have I repeatedly, over the years, given my life to God only to take it back again and again?
  • Why can I not continually offer my life as a sweet aroma in His service?
  • When will I embrace the concept that the cross proves my love? No complaining! No whining! No keeping record of wrongs! Just joyful cross-bearing love!
  • This video is so convicting. Be sure and pause the playlist above before playing it.

I OFFER MY LIFE... IN THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN...

Today is a very special post about THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN. It's a post about THE FAMILY OF GOD!

On this blog, this month, our theme verse has been Matthew 5:3:
.

"Blessed are the POOR IN SPIRIT,
for there's is THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN."

We've spent a lot of time talking about what it means to be POOR IN SPIRIT and almost no time about what it THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN is. Let me just give you a few bullet points as introduction before you continue through the rest of this very ~BLESSED~ post.
.

  1. In the Bible, the phrase THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN is only in Matthew.
  2. I have posted all of those scriptures from Matthew below.
  3. The scriptures give a clear picture that THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN has already begun.
  4. As you study and connect what you've read here with other Bible passages, you will find that THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN is a spiritual kingdom with a King, subjects, and an eternal home.
  5. THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN is full of people who know that this world is all about God and not about them. So, they choose to be POOR IN SPIRIT, in honor of their King!
  6. THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN is the Church that Jesus died for... The Family of God!

.

  • Matt 3:2 J. Baptist preached-repent, The Kingdom of Heaven ’s near!
  • Matt 4:17 Jesus preached – repent, The Kingdom of Heaven ’s near!

Local churches are made up of humans. Humans are sinners! Sinners are those who have disobeyed God - not living according to His ways! I am part of God's family who are building a new building where we can gather to study the Bible together, worship God, and experience Kingdom fellowship. Much of the building is complete. The flooring in the auditorium is being laid this week. The baptistry is filled. D.R. took advantage of that on Wednesday just as the big storm was hitting the East Coast.
.
When a human becomes of the age to recognize that he/she has not lived within the will and reign of Jesus Christ, each one is faced with a decision - obey and submit to Jesus or deny Him as LORD. On Wednesday, D.R. (a young man raised by a "transformed mom and dad" in our church family) chose to become part of the KINGDOM OF HEAVEN the way that those first century christians did:

  • He was convicted that God is creator and has a plan for his life.
  • He mourned over his sinfulness - repenting that he is a sinner.
  • He humbled himself to Jesus Christ, choosing to make Jesus his LORD!
  • He confessed to others that Jesus is LORD.
  • He was buried with Jesus in baptism - at which time he was "clothed with Christ".
  • He began an eternal life of KINGDOM LIVING - The Blessed Life!

Please join me on a brief picture walk through Wednesday afternoon:

Romans 14:9-18
11 "It is written:

"'As surely as I live,' says the Lord,
'every knee will bow before me;
every tongue will confess to God.'"
12 So then, each of us will give an account of himself to God...
...16 Do not allow what you consider good
to be spoken of as evil.
17 For the kingdom of God
is not a matter of eating and drinking,
but of righteousness,
peace and joy in the Holy Spirit,
18 because anyone who serves Christ in this way
is pleasing to God..."
.

Acts 2:38-39

"Repent and be baptized, every one of you,
in the name of Jesus Christ
for the forgiveness of your sins.
And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."
.

Galatians 3:26-28

"You are all sons of God
through faith in Christ Jesus,
for all of you who were baptized into Christ
have clothed yourselves with Christ. "
.

R.R. said these words to his son, D.R.,
just as God said them to His Son,
"This is My beloved Son,
in whom I am well-pleased."

Welcome to the family, D.R.!

Your dad and mom are now
your brother and sister in Christ!
Our local church family
is part of the worldwide church family
who have been born again -
THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN.

I OFFER MY LIFE... FOR THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN ... GLORY TO GOD...

TRANSFORMING THURSDAY
.
Last night there were thousands without power on the East Coast as a snowstorm, described as a "Thundersnow with the characteristics of a Catagory 1 Hurricane", pummeled north. I got my hands on several flashlights with strong batteries and prepared for the possiblity of no electricity. It was not something that I wanted to happen, but knew being without power was a possibility.
.
At one point, yesterday, the rain had taken away the snow and I could see our grass. Then, for several hours we got about 2 inches an hour of wet heavy snow until it stopped around 10 inches. There was no loss of power! We did not have to live in the darkness like thousands did. This morning, servanthearted Brian arrived early to help dig us out:

Sisters, how do we get our power to live transformed lives? How do we stay plugged in to the power source? How do we keep lit during the storms of life? Let this very strong-willed and opinionated woman answer that!

  • I have to continually crucify my spirit, to allow the reign and realm of Christ Jesus to take over my life! Life is not about me! It's about Him!

So, our first memory verses of this year have included:

MATTHEW 5:3 .

"BLESSED are the POOR IN SPIRIT,

for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. "

If you and I want to lead THE BLESSED LIFE, we must live presently in the "kingdom of heaven!" Entrance into that "kingdom" is by Jesus. He is the key. He is the door. He is the light. He'll keep us plugged in! It begins by you and I being poor in our own spirit and submitting to the easy requirements of JESUS for the KINGDOM OF HEAVEN. I must tell you that for a strong-willed and opinionated woman, that is NOT always easy. So, the rest of the memory verses for this month help me to continually refocus:

.

PHILIPPIANS 2:5-11

  • 5 Your ATTITUDE should be the same as that of CHRIST JESUS:
  • 6 Who, being in very nature GOD,
  • did NOT consider EQUALITY with God something to be grasped,
  • 7 but made Himself nothing, taking the very nature of a SERVANT, being made in human likeness.
  • 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He HUMBLED Himself and became OBEDIENT TO DEATH- even death on a cross!
  • 9 Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the NAME that is ABOVE EVERY NAME,
  • 10 that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE should BOW, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
  • 11 and every EVERY TONGUE CONFESS that Jesus Christ is Lord, TO THE GLORY OF GOD the Father.

.

If you are a SEMANTIC learner, then you probably had no trouble just reading the verses, meditating on the concepts, and practicing for memorization. (Some people call that the Read - Repetition method.)

.

If you are a SYMBOLIC learner, it is helpful to have some kind of notations or patterns to help you remember. I am partially a symbolic learner. So, I came up with these letters (connected to the upper case words in the bullets above) to help me memorize:

  • A.G.E.S. - (Attitude; God; Equality-not; Servant
  • HO! - (Humbled; Obedient)
  • HP - (Highest Place)
  • NAEN - (Name Above Every Name)
  • EKB - (Every Knee Bow)
  • ETC - (Every Tongue Confess)

.

If you are a FIGURAL learner, you probably do best with hands on actions or pictures for your memory work. This way is helpful for me, too. So, this might be an aid for you, as well.

.
MATTHEW 5:1-3 .

Now when He saw the crowds, He went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to Him, and He began to teach them, saying:

"BLESSED are the POOR IN SPIRIT,

for theirs is the KINGDOM OF HEAVEN."

.

.

.

.

.

PHILIPPIANS 2:5-11 . 5

Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:

6 Who, being in very nature God,

did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,

7 but made Himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. .

8 And being found in appearance as a man,

He HUMBLED Himself and

became OBEDIENT to death-

even death on a cross! .

.
.
.

9 Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name,

10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,

11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. .

The bottom line is to stay PLUGGED IN TO THE WORD! The WORD will guide you in your transformation to KINGDOM LIVING! Join us here tomorrow for some secrets about THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN on Family Fellowship Friday.

I OFFER MY LIFE...MY FINANCES... MY HEALTH... MY COMFORT...

Once again, I love my church family. I love how they give! I love how they love! I love how they sacrifice! It's happened again with a third trip to Haiti since the devastation there in January of 2010. This picture was taken last Wednesday as our newest group loaded the van to head for the airport. Ten days to be spent offering their lives for Jesus in Haiti... their finances... their health... their comfort... His love...
.
In this picture, on the right, are transformed moms Diana and Lynne. The next six are children of transformed moms in our congregation (some are Diana's children). The young lady on the left is a friend. Erin, one of our young ladies who is away at college, joined them in Florida.
.
I say all of this, for you to know that there are three transformed moms, in our congregation, who have offered their lives to Jesus. In return, six of their children are offering their lives to serve in Haiti for 10 days. All together, the group includes: 5 students, 2 nurses, one French teacher who is a former missionary, and one seamstress... they have a whole lot to offer...
.
I am so grateful for what I see... for knowing this group... for having the opportunity to continue to pray for them this week... Please join me!
.
LORD, we offer our lives to You... everything we've been through... use it for Your glory...

I OFFER MY LIFE... HOT AND FAITHFUL...

MEDITATION MONDAY
.
.
We can choose to offer our lives to God hesitantly or radically. There is a difference! Yesterday, in our Sunday morning adult Bible class, we discussed what it means to be "lukewarm" and what God has to say about it. Our teacher, Ray, said that he wanted us to look at these words in Revelation 3:15-16, and how they connected to the church universal, the church local, and the individuals who made up the church:
.
I know your deeds,
that you are neither cold nor hot.
I wish you were either one or the other!
So, because you are lukewarm-
neither hot nor cold-
I am about to spit you out of my mouth.
.
.
What strong words! When I think of having something in my mouth and having to spit it out, there are several possible reasons, but the main reason is that it tastes DISGUSTING! I have the understanding that God really doesn't like "lukewarm".
.
We had a lot of discussion in our class. Some of the comments that I wrote down include:
  • I believe that the opposite of love is not hate - it's indifference!
  • We're bombarded in our society with the teaching of tolerance. It compromises THE TRUTH!
  • Where in the Bible do we find the "Hall of Fame of Great Moderates"?
  • We define TRUTH in different ways, but God has His own definition of TRUTH.
  • The middle of the road is the worst place to be because that is where you'll get run over from both directions.
  • We've got to be more concerned with pleasing God than with pleasing man!
  • We've got to be careful to not deceive ourselves into thinking "it's all okay!"
  • If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything!
  • Being lukewarm means you have cooled down!
  • Being lukewarm means you have lost your way!
  • There's a scripture in Hebrews 6 that addresses this, "It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, 5 who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age, 6 if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting Him to public disgrace."
Later, Dan got up to preach. He wanted us to look at Hebrews 11 and 3 spiritual heroes in the "Hall of Faith": Abel, Noah, and Abraham. He said, "Faith tests include doing it God's way and waiting on the Lord." He spoke specifically to different age groups and situations in life, including:
  • Those in school: "One of your biggest faith tests will be THE MORAL TEST!
  • Those in troubled marriages: "One of your biggest faith tests may be THE PERSEVERANCE TEST!"
Oh, there was much more to the class and the assembly, but I took away that once again God had a message for me to meditate on:
  • Each new day I get up and surrender humbly and joyfully to my God. There will be tests throughout the day... and I must make every effort to walk by faith in His Truths... never giving in to being lukewarm for my God!

The words of this brief video articulate how I want to live my days. Be sure and pause the playlist above before watching:
