I have been in different situations over the last few weeks...
- helping some friends move
- enjoying life group fellowship
- visiting with my husband
and invariably this book that we're looking at this month becomes the topic of some discussion. One friend said that the further that she gets in the book the more the individual days are pointed straight at her. I thought that they were pointing straight at me!
.
Over the years, I have heard my youngest daughter say to me repeatedly, "Now, mother, be kind!" I am a very practical, where the rubber meets the road, kind of person. I've believed that part of kindness is telling the harsh and honest realities of something. After all, won't that help the person get "better" more quickly? Our author says that this kind of use of the tongue "has never yielded positive results."
.
God says it this way:
.
Proverbs 15:1
"A gentle answer turns away wrath,
But a harsh word stirs up anger."
.
Proverbs 31:26
"She opens her mouth in wisdom,
And the teaching of kindness is on her tongue."
.
Join me in praying daily for
the wisdom of kind words!
