Okay! Okay! I know today is Saturday and I'm running a little behind. In fact, I'm running way behind in a lot of things. It's not just been one of those weeks, it's been one of those autumns... years... lives... Okay! You get the picture! No matter, I do believe that GIGATTAATTGIG...
.
Thursday morning, Steve had knee surgery. Charlie, Dorothy, and Doc drove over to Philly to sit with me in the waiting room. God bless my christian family! I brought Steve home that afternoon. I went ahead and taught my 7:30 to 10 p.m. class at the university . Then yesterday, I played nursemaid, housekeeper, courier for Jessica's Mac to The Apple Store x3, Trader Joe's shopper, and college professor. I am so thankful for my sisters in Christ who provided meals. Thank you, Alana and Debbie C.! What a family in Christ I have! In fact, at about 11:30 p.m. I left for the church building to join in our church family's 24 hours of prayer. Each hour from 12-3 this morning, I prayed with a different group of people. What a blessing! I am so thankful AND Steve is on the mend!

Last Sunday, Steve preached a powerful sermon (you can access it over on the right sidebar). The Holy Spirit truly inspired and EMPOWERED our church family through His words. This week we have heard a lot of talk and received much feedback.
.
Steve's sermon began with a "starter list" of 33 things that scripture tells us that The Holy Spirit does. We'll continue looking at those in the weeks ahead. For now, I'd like to share the core of Steve's lesson here:
.
- Focusing on "the waves" of our lives will not help a person to be thankful... focusing on our blessings in Christ will... Remember Peter trying to walk to Jesus on the water? - Matthew 14
- Steve directed us to Romans 1:18-23 where we were challenged to think about how thankful our spirits were and that "Thanksgiving encourages Holy Spirit leading and transformation". Verse 20 tells us that we are without excuse and then in verse 21 it says, "For although they knew God, they neither glorified Him as God nor gave thanks to Him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened."
- EMPOWERED by a thankful heart will discourage Satan misleading us to foolishness and darkness. (see verse above)
- So, we have a choice! Darkness! Light! Listen to the Holy Spirit and begin your POWER WALK WITH HIM each new day. Steve said, "Everyone has a problem list or a blessing list! Which one do you choose to pick up each morning?"
The video below is one that I posted back in August. It was the next week that Steve got locked out of the house and stood in our driveway thanking God for being locked out. Since then he has noticed a downpouring of opportunities to be thankful in difficult circumstances. He shared some with us on Sunday. He also showed the video of Nic V. which I have posted at the bottom of this blog. Here is the video that I posted back in August. May The Holy Spirit empower you to be thankful during this season of Thanksgiving and for the rest of your life, no matter what the circumstances.
