SUNDAY IN THE SON

Since the 1980's, the songs of Steve and Annie Chapman have played in our home, in our cars, and our offices. We have been so encouraged as to the ways God has used this couple to inspire and empower us. Last night, Steve and I had the privilege of traveling to the Sandy Cove Resort nestled at the head waters of the Chesapeake Bay in northern Maryland. Our front row seats, in an auditorium packed to hear Steve and Annie sing, were a blessing! We left saying, "We needed that!"

Over the next few days, I'll share with you some of the encouragement that Steve and I received and, of course, more pictures!

For today, let's begin looking at a sixth thing that the Holy Spirit does:
- He INDWELLS us!
- He HELPS us!
- He gives LIFE!
- He COMFORTS us!
- He LEADS us!
- He EMPOWERS us!

On this Lord's Day, let's think of the things that are difficult about being a wife or a mother. Now, consider what these scriptures say about the christian being empowered:

Romans 8:11
"And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in you. "

1 John 4:4-5
You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. "

Zechariah 4:6
"So he said to me, "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: 'Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' says the LORD Almighty."
