TRANSFORMING THURSDAY
Yesterday, we read both Esther's and Mary's words from scripture. They both were women who obviously wanted to please God. They had possibly prayed at one point, "God, I want to be your woman... lead me, guide me, stay living right inside me". What happens when God answers those kind of prayers by allowing difficult circumstances? With very strange "unexplainable" happenings?
.
Esther's response, when she knew that she had to stand up for her people was, "If I perish, I perish!"
.
Mary's response to Gabriel when told she would give birth as a virgin was, ""For nothing will be impossible with God. Behold, the bondslave of the Lord; be it done to me according to Your word."
.
Tuesday morning in our ladies Bible study of "The Patriarchs", we were in Genesis 45. Joseph is able to look back at his life and "get the big picture". He was able to see the sovreignty of God. Joseph saw God's hands at work in the difficult circumstances of being left for almost dead to being imprisoned in a foreign land:
.
Genesis 45:4-9
Then Joseph said to his brothers,
"Please come closer to me."
And they came closer.
And he said, "I am your brother Joseph,
whom you sold into Egypt.
5 And now do not be grieved or angry with yourselves,
because you sold me here;
for God sent me before you to preserve life.
6 For the famine has been in the land these two years,
and there are still five years
in which there will be neither plowing nor harvesting.
7 And God sent me before you
to preserve for you a remnant in the earth,
and to keep you alive by a great deliverance.
8 Now, therefore,
it was not you who sent me here, but God;
and He has made me a father to Pharaoh
and lord of all his household and ruler over all the land of Egypt."
.
Are there things in your life that you have not allowed to transform you for the better? Are you training your mind to look at things the way God sees them? He sees the teeny tiny nano details of our lives! He also sees our lives in the grand scheme of things - the big picture! As He continues to work on you and me, it would do us good to review two things that have been on this blog in the last two weeks: 1. A video 2. A cartoon strip
.
May something you read or see here today be transforming!
