SWEET FELLOWSHIP: WOMEN IN THE WORD

I love our Tuesday morning class! Yesterday was no exception. We had a very lively, riveting discussion about GOD'S calling and blessing of Abram, Abram's travels, and Abram's sins. Why did Abram lie about Sarai? Why does the Bible say that disease came on Pharoah and his people? What about Abram? Surely there was a consequence! GOD gives consequences for disobedience. Hmmmmm! Was it disobedience? Did Abram really know better? After all, he was just "a babe" in His relationship with the LORD. Why does Genesis 15 not address that Abram was wrong? We may not know for sure in this life. What are your thoughts on this?

The amazing thing about GOD is that He doesn't try to hide the truth about His family. The Bible is full of family stories of deception, jealousy, bitterness, mistrust, adultery.... It's more than a soap opera! After all, let's be totally honest, the only one of GOD's family who didn't sin was JESUS.

We come together as women who love the LORD, wanting to please Him, learn from Him, and let Him lead us.

The Written Word in 2 Timothy 2:15 says, "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately The Word of truth."

The Written Word in Titus 2:3-5 says, "Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips, nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, 4 that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, 5 to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, that The Word of God may not be dishonored."

The Written Word in Hebrews 4:12 says, "For The Word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart."
