MEDITATION MONDAY
Great Thoughts for Your Spirit to Savor
.
I invite you to meditate on some of the topics that crossed my heart on Sunday in the SON:
.
At the Pitman church of Christ that I am a part of we have several adult Bible classes on Sunday mornings that include A Study of the Holy Spirit, Christianity 101, and a class for women Treasured in My Heart. We also have two worship services that can be attended either before or after the classes. During the service we pray, sing, participate in remembering what JESUS has done for us, and listen to a sermon. Today, I want to share 4 meditation thoughts with you as they connect to the 3 classes mentioned and the sermon.
.
1. THE HOLY SPIRIT - The only way to have true living, breathing spirituality is to have the HOLY SPIRIT of GOD: I was not in that class, but wish I was. This is a class that I feel needs to be taught every week in a body of believers until we all come to maturity in how we understand GOD'S HOLY SPIRIT and how He works. Even though I wasn't in the class, I usually try to read something weekly, if not daily about GOD'S SPIRIT. This past week, Terry Rush got me to thinking on His blog about the church as an
.
ORGANIZATION vs. A LIVING BREATHING ORGANISM
.
Honestly, anyone can join up to become part of an organization but to have a group of extremely diverse people live and breathe in unity, as one, takes the living breathing organism of the HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD. That's why Annette can describe the Pitman church the way she does on her blog this last week:
"In our church family, Pitman church of Christ, we have a little slice of heaven. We are diverse, we welcome and respect diversity. But we are truly one in the body of Christ. I've never experienced anything like it, and I doubt I will any place else on this side of heaven. It is a blessing from God that I am grateful for everyday. I believe this kind of unity can only come through Christ. Ultimately, our freedom, our equality, and our unity come from God through Jesus Christ."

.
2. CHRISTIANITY 101 - Welcome to the spiritual life!: I was not in that class either, yet I do know that if I was teaching it, I would most certainly include this question and statement:
What are you going to do with JESUS?
At some point,
each person on the planet
has to make an individual decision
as to whether to view JESUS as
Liar,
Lunatic,
or LORD.
.
This is the third time in a week that I ask you to watch this video if you have not already. I must really think that the thoughts put forth are important for each of us to meditate on and consider...yes, I do!

3. TREASURED IN MY HEART CLASS yesterday was led by yours truly. I asked several different sisters to post on their blogs something that they could take from the class, hoping that each one would have an "Aha! Moment" that they could share with you. I'm sure each one will come at it from a different perspective. I've heard preachers and teachers say that for every class you teach, there are as many interpretations of what you said as there are people who heard. I am just glad that however I was interpreted, that the HOLY SPIRIT is in the mix!

4. SUNDAY MORNING'S SERVICE AND SERMON:
.
We started out singing, "My HOPE is built on nothing less than JESUS blood and righteousness...on CHRIST the SOLID ROCK I stand, all other ground is sinking sand...all other ground is sinking sand..." Well there you have it! That sums it up! What a way to start a service!

Dan's Sermon: HOPE IN THE MIDST OF TOUGH ECONOMIC TIMES
Dan connected Isaiah 29 with The Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 6:19-23. As he talked, I could not but help think of this question:
.
.
Dan encouraged us from Matthew 6:
19 "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures upon earth,
where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.
20 "But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,
where neither moth nor rust destroys,
and where thieves do not break in or steal;
21 for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
22 "The lamp of the body is the eye; if therefore your eye is clear,
your whole body will be full of light.
23 "But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness.
If therefore the light that is in you is darkness,
how great is the darkness! 24
"No one can serve two masters;
for either he will hate the one and love the other,
or he will hold to one and despise the other.
You cannot serve God and mammon.
25 "For this reason I say to you, do not be anxious for your life,
as to what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor for your body,
as to what you shall put on. Is not life more than food,
and the body than clothing?
26 "Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?
27 "And which of you by being anxious can add a single cubit to his life's span?
28 "And why are you anxious about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin,
29 yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory did not clothe himself like one of these.
30 "But if God so arrays the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more do so for you, O men of little faith?
31 "Do not be anxious then, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'With what shall we clothe ourselves?'
32 "For all these things the Gentiles eagerly seek; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.
33 "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.
34 "Therefore do not be anxious for tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself.
Each day has enough trouble of its own."
In summary, GOD gives us a choice...
.
1. Choose your treasure!
.
2. Choose your master!
.
3. Choose your security!
.
4. Choose your ambition!
