Last week, we focused on:
- 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand...
Now, this week, we continue to STAND FIRM with the beginnings of God's armor.
- 14 Stand firm then, . ...with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
I know when we each get up in the morning, we have a different routine. I have a memory hook story that follows someone's morning routine and helps me memorize a lot of Bible lists. It is from my mother-in-love, Mama Sikes. Although she has never taught me how to use it to memorize God's armor, I find it to be quite easy. Won't you join me?
- My ONE alarm clock goes off in the morning and I jump up and STAND beside my bed.
- I pull on my TWO legged pants and they are way too baggy, so I need to keep them up WITH THE BELT OF TRUTH BUCKLED AROUND MY WAIST.
- I sit down on my THREE legged stool to put my shirt on and tuck it in. The problem is that I have THREE of my five buttons missing. Oh! Why do these kind of things never seem to go right for me? Oh! That's right, I need to cover my shirt with THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNES.
- I'll sit down on my FOUR legged chair at my four legged table. I need something on my feet! I can sit here and put on some boots that will cover my feet and shins. I continue getting ready WITH MY FEET FITTED WITH THE READINESS THAT COMES FROM THE GOSPEL OF PEACE.
There you have it! I'm half way there! Half way to putting on the full armor of God:
- 14 Stand firm then, . ...with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
