WOMEN IN THE WORD WEDNESDAY.
This week we're working on the first 3 verses of our scripture memory, Deuteronomy 6: 4-6. Moses had just finished in chapters 4 and 5 with some strong exhortations to the Israelites to observe God's commandments, to teach them diligently to their children, and to shun idolatry. This reminder was recurring so they would know that their safety and prosperity would depend on their TRUSTING and OBEYING God. The 10 commandments are given in chapter 5 with commandment 2 focusing on abstaining from idolatry. Watch the thread of LOVE weave all the way through this Old Testament book. This is powerful! Be Blessed!
.
Deuteronomy 5:8-10
"You shall not make for yourself an idol
in the form of anything in heaven above
or on the earth beneath
or in the waters below.
You shall not bow down to them or worship them;
for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God,
punishing the children for the sin of the fathers
to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,
but showing love to a thousand [ generations]
of those who love me and keep my commandments."
.
Deuteronomy 6:4-9
"Hear, O Israel:
The LORD our God,
the LORD is one.
Love the LORD your God with all your heart
and with all your soul
and with all your strength. .
6 These commandments that I give you today
are to be upon your hearts."
.
Deuteronomy 7:8-10
"Know therefore that the LORD your God is God;
He is the faithful God,
keeping His covenant of love
to a thousand generations of those who love Him
and keep His commands."
.
Deuteronomy 7:12-14
"If you pay attention to these laws
and are careful to follow them,
then the LORD your God will
keep His covenant of love with you,
as He swore to your forefathers.
He will love you and bless you
and increase your numbers.
He will bless the fruit of your womb,
the crops of your land —
your grain, new wine and oil —
the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks
in the land that He swore to your forefathers to give you."
.
Deuteronomy 10:12-13
"And now, O Israel,
what does the LORD your God ask of you
but to fear the LORD your God,
to walk in all His ways,
to love Him,
to serve the LORD your God
with all your heart
and with all your soul,
and to observe the LORD's commands and decrees
that I am giving you today for your own good?"
.
Deuteronomy 10:17-20
"For the LORD your God is
God of gods and Lord of lords,
the great God, mighty and awesome,
who shows no partiality and accepts no bribes.
He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow,
and loves the alien, giving him food and clothing.
And you are to love those who are aliens,
for you yourselves were aliens in Egypt. "
.
Deuteronomy 11:1-2
"Love the LORD your God
and keep His requirements,
His decrees, His laws
and His commands always."
.
Deuteronomy 11:13-15
"So if you faithfully obey the commands
I am giving you today —
to love the LORD your God
and to serve Him
with all your heart
and with all your soul —
then I will send rain
on your land in its season,
both autumn and spring rains,
so that you may gather in your grain,
new wine and oil.
I will provide grass in the fields for your cattle,
and you will eat and be satisfied. "
.
Deuteronomy 11:22-24
"If you carefully observe all these commands
I am giving you to follow —
to love the LORD your God,
to walk in all His ways
and to hold fast to Him —
then the LORD will drive out
all these nations before you,
and you will dispossess nations
larger and stronger than you.
Every place where you
set your foot will be yours..."
.
Deuteronomy 13:3-4
"The LORD your God
is testing you
to find out whether you love him
with all your heart and with all your soul.
It is the LORD your God you must follow,
and Him you must revere.
Keep His commands and obey Him;
serve Him and hold fast to Him."
.
Deuteronoy 30:5-6
"He will bring you to the land
that belonged to your fathers,
and you will take possession of it.
He will make you more prosperous
and numerous than your fathers.
The LORD your God will
circumcise your hearts
and the hearts of your descendants,
so that you may love Him
with all your heart
and with all your soul, and live."
.
Deuteronomy 30:16
"For I command you today
to love the LORD your God,
to walk in His ways,
and to keep His commands,
decrees and laws;
then you will live and increase,
and the LORD your God will bless you
in the land you are entering to possess. "
