This truly is FAMILY FELLOWSHIP FRIDAY for the Pitman church of Christ. Tonight begins our weekend celebration of this church's 50th anniversary. Members who have moved away are returning for the fellowship. Tonight the festivities begin as we join together for a two hour hymn sing!
.
A group of people began meeting together 50 years ago, not knowing what the future held and they chose to walk by faith and not by sight. These were people who believed in The Great I AM told about in the Holy Bible... The Creator of the universe.... The Savior and Deliverer of people who chose to TRUST and OBEY the I AM and walked BY FAITH and not by sight... people like Noah who had never seen rain before... and Moses who had not seen waters part before...
.
.
Fifty years ago, this group of people began meeting as a group of followers of the GREAT I AM, believing that His Son had
- lived a perfect life on this earth
- been crucified for it
- not allowed death and the grave to hold Him
- come back to life
Today, as disciples of Jesus Christ, we believe that although He returned to heaven, He has left part of Himself with us, THE HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD to...
.
- INDWELL us
- HELP us
- give LIFE to us (ETERNAL LIFE)
- COMFORT us
- LEAD us
.
So, 50 years later, this fellowship of believers continues to strive to walk in the light of Jesus Christ and grow in what Dan the preacher-man talked about last Sunday and I wrote about yesterday...
.
- TRANSFORMATION BY THE HOLY SPIRIT OF THE GREAT I AM
- SINCERE LOVE
- BELIEF THAT GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME
- DEVOTION TO ONE ANOTHER
- SPIRITUAL FERVOR
- JOYFUL HOPE... REJOICING IN ALL THINGS
- PATIENCE IN AFFLICTION
- FAITHFULNESS IN PRAYER
- SHARING WITH GOD'S PEOPLE IN NEED
- PRACTICING HOSPITALITY
- BLESSING THOSE WHO PERSECUTE - EVEN OUR ENEMIES
- OVERCOMING EVIL WITH GOOD
If we claim to have fellowship with Him
yet walk in the darkness,
we lie and do not live by the truth.
7 But if we walk in the light,
as He is in the light,
we have fellowship with one another,
and the blood of Jesus, His Son,
purifies us from all sin."
1 John 1:6-7
