We began the year, on this blog, with the theme of HOLY! This week we return to discuss the importance of being holy because our God is holy.
.
If you are reading this and you do not worship with the saints where I worship on Sunday mornings, you missed a real treat yesterday. In our women's class, we heard "A" discuss how God saved her from her former life of prostitution. It was a lesson on forgiveness out of the book of Colossians: JESUS IS THE ONE WHO FORGIVES MY SINS. Her humble testimony was a tribute to our God!
.
Then, Steve spoke to us in the assembly about BUILDING GOD'S CHURCH: HOLY TO THE LORD!
.
First, He emphasized:
- God is the builder!
- Jesus is the foundation!
- Each of us is the temple (sanctuary)!
.
Ahhh! God was at work again! I had already posted SANCTUARY as our theme for the week and Steve already had this lesson planned but neither one of us had made the connection as to how connected the two were. It is the connection that I would like us to meditate on today:
.
The root word in Greek for HOLY is the same as the root word for the following words:
- holiness
- hallow
- hallowed
- consecrate
- saint
- sanctify
- sanctification
- sanctuary
Meditate on that today and ask God to help you make the connection!
.
Philippians 2:12-13
"...continue to work out your salvation
with fear and trembling,
for it is God who works in you
to will and to act
according to His good purpose."
