There are many reasons why people mourn.
Yet, when Jesus says that we are blessed and comforted when we mourn, He is speaking of the forgiveness that He gives and the forgiveness He expects us to offer to others.
His gift is ready... it's the repentance He's waiting for... It's a mark of our faith in Him.
IN LUKE 5 Jesus said,
“It is not those who are well who need a physician, but those who are sick. 32 I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.”
IN LUKE 17 Jesus said to His disciples,
3 "Be on your guard! If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. 4 And if he sins against you seven times a day, and returns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ forgive him.”
5 The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!” 6 And the Lord said, “If
you had faith like a mustard seed, you would say to this mulberry tree,
‘Be uprooted and be planted in the sea’; and it would obey you."
IN LUKE 24 Jesus said,
"Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, 46 and He said to them,
“Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead the third day, 47 and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things."
BLESSED! OH, THE JOY!
