Throughout this entire year, our key focus will be Christ's "sermon on the mount". We'll spend the bigger portion of our time in Matthew 5. Each month we will add a new section of His sermon to memorize. This week, let's sit down with Jesus on that mountain and listen clearly to His opening statement. Before we do, join me at taking a look at the Mount of Beatitudes.

View 1: Sitting down below the mount (we might consider it a big hill) is where many scholars believe that Jesus sat as He looked up at all the people sitting on the mountain.

View 2: Sitting on the "mount" the people may have had a view like this as they looked out over the Sea of Galilee (behind Jesus).

View 3: A different perspective from higher up!

Jesus' words from His sermon on the Mount of Beatitudes encapsulate the message of THE BLESSED LIFE... the life of a christian. He shares the secrets. He shares in Matthew 5-7 how we can be like Him.
.
The following words, at the beginning of Matthew 5, are what we will memorize and talk about on this blog throughout the month of January. I challenge us to memorize them... to put them on our hearts so that we may understand a foundational concept of THE BLESSED LIFE.
