It is GOD who BLESSES and TRANSFORMS...

This is a blog for women (not just moms) who:

(1) Desire to be transformed by JESUS' LOVE, HOLINESS, AND GRACE;

(2) Believe that GOD'S WORD is the true Spirit food for HIS HOLY SPIRIT who lives within us;

(3) Submit to GOD and walk this journey of life with HIM transforming us more and more into HIS likeness.

It's a blog about the POWER OF TRANSFORMED LIVES. Let's begin with yours and mine and pass it on... 1 + 1 + 1...

Since GOD's HOLY SPIRIT lives inside a christian, let's choose to be nurtured and transformed by feasting daily on HOLY SPIRIT food - GOD's WORD - The Holy Bible..

My regular posts stopped in 2013, with a major move and the chronic illness and eventual death of our oldest daughter. Yes, we grieve daily, yet I am determined to continue to let the LIGHT of my LORD and SAVIOR shine through me. I have tried to start posting again, over the last few years, but have not been consistent. So, I think the biggest blessing for you and me both will be to intersperse some new posts while revisiting some of the former posts. Let's begin with "Oh, the JOY!" as we head into living through Fall 2019; meeting back here 1-2 days a week.

If you need daily encouragement, you will find plenty by clicky on past posts. When reading earlier posts, you will see that I often posted daily, following this format: ...Sunday in the SON, Meditation Monday, GratiTuesday, Women in the WORD Wednesday, Transforming Thursday, Family Fellowship Friday, Ketchup & Mustard Saturday.

There's a whole lot here! Take your time to browse.

Please come back and visit each week. Welcome!

Because of JESUS, we can be family,

Patti

TRANSFORMED MOMS:MOMS TRANSFORMED

Romans 12:1-2 "Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect."

LET MY WORDS BE FEW...I STAND IN AWE OF YOU...

THANK YOU, JESUS!
Romans 5:1-8
  • "Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
  • 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.
  • 3 Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;
  • 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope.
  • 5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.
  • 6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.
  • 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die.
  • 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

Jesus, over and above all that, it is amazing to me that You willingly came down from heaven as IMMANUEL (God with us!) Then, when You returned to heaven, You wanted us to know that You would remain with us as You chose to *IN-MAN-YOU-DWELL*! Thank You for such GRACE! Thank You, the Creator, for loving me!

When it comes to life,
the critical thing is whether you take things for granted
or take them with gratitude.

LET MY WORDS BE FEW... GIGATTAATTGIG...

MEDITATION MONDAY

.
This month, our scripture memory has been a constant reminder to me that a "transformed mom":
  • rejoices in suffering
  • suffers while persevering
  • allows perseverance to develop character
  • gets hope through character
  • knows that hope does not disappoint

I've thought a lot about how hard it is to go down this path of life, full of enormous challenges, and not let myself say, "If only..." OR to look to the future and not be discouraged. I went to, my daughter-in-love, Jacqueline's blog the other day and she had changed the words in her header to read, "Learning to live in the present moment is part of the path to joy." Ah, yes! That sounds like another take on "Keep rejoicing as you persevere in your suffering!"

.

Dan, had another take on this concept yesterday morning. Steve always begins his sermons with "God Is Good All The Time..." and the congregation responds "...And All The Time God Is Good." Yesterday, was Dan's turn to preach (they each preach half the sermons each year at our Sunday morning church services). Dan began his sermon the way that Steve usually does. In fact, Dan's whole sermon was about G.I.G.A.T.T.A.A.T.T.G.I.G.

.

Dan listed a bunch of really rough stuff that the people in our church family have gone through... deaths, divorce, chronic illness, cancer, loss of finances, loss of homes... he confessed the times that he could not say GIGATTAATTGIG. He kept us focused on Romans 8:28

  • "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. "

Dan emphasized that God is good ALL the time, it doesn't say that everything in a christian's life is good. In fact, if we connect this verse with our scipture for this month, we can see that for those who love God, it is in the journey of suffering and perseverance and character building that the working for good and hope prevails.

.

One of Dan's illustrations was a ruler and a yardstick. We get discouraged because we only see things from our perspective and not from God's. The ruler represented a person's life from birth to physical death. The yardstick (with infinite arrows on both ends) represented God's life/perspective.

Today, as I consider God's good and much bigger perspective, I recommit to joyfully persevere in suffering as I believe that GIGATTAATTGIG. I imagine myself standing at the foot of the cross as I let His blood drip down on me. I sing "I stand in awe of You, Jesus. I stand in awe of You! I'll let my words be few... Jesus, I am so in love with You."

.

Thank you, Jesus for:

  • counting it great joy to suffer for me
  • persevering through sneers, tauntings, floggings, crucifiction...
  • displaying the depth of your character by not giving in to the evil one
  • desiring for things to work out for good for my family and me...
  • living so that I can have a hope and a future
  • loving me, in spite of me

TABLE OF GRACE... CARRIED TO THE TABLE...

KETCHUP AND MUSTARD SATURDAY

Catch Up and Must Do

There are many times that I feel totally paralyzed. The negative self-talk... words from the enemy are so dehabilitating:
  • How can I go on?
  • What do I do next?
  • I'm not worthy!
  • What does it matter?
  • I'm so afraid!

In the midst of the battle, when I choose to fix my eyes on Jesus, two things often come to mind:

  • Jesus carrying me... because I cannot do it...
  • The story of the paralytic, as told in Mark 2, who had 4 friends who brought him to Jesus

Today, I share with you three videos, of the same song, that have all impacted me in different ways. They all say to me, "Welcoe to THE TABLE OF GRACE!" Maybe because I am someone who loves the "one another passages" in the Bible or that I am a special educator, I especially love the third video! Be sure and pause the playlist above before watching. Enjoy! Be encouraged!

"Live in harmony with one another. Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low position. Do not be conceited." Romans 12:16

TABLE OF GRACE... ON THE ROAD OF HOPE...

TRANSFORMING THURSDAY

.

THANK YOU, JESUS!
.
In honor of my thanksgiving to Jesus, here are a few videos that speak my heart. Please pause the playlist above before beginning the videos.
.

These are a few of my favorite "musical moments" that sum up my heart and our scripture memory for this month at the Table of Grace.
.
1.
Roll the little ball on the video over to 2:45 and then watch the rest of the video of the singing of WHEN I SURVEY THE WONDROUS CROSS:

.
2.

Thank You, Jesus, for being WORTHY to take the hit for all of us. As I watch this video, I think of our scripture memory. You teach us, through Your life, that SUFFERING leads to PERSEVERANCE and PERSEVERANCE builds CHARACTER and CHARACTER leads to HOPE and HOPE does not disappoint. We rejoice on the road to HOPE!
.

3.

Thank You, Jesus! I am a sinner saved by Your Grace! Thank You for inviting me to the feast!

TABLE OF GRACE... WHILE WE WERE STILL SINNERS...

We're nearing the end of our November scripture memory! It's the 24th of the month and our last verse is truly the heart of the matter!
.
Romans 5:8
.
"But God demonstrates
.
His own love for us in this:
.
While we were still sinners,
.
Christ died for us."

Let's spend some time today practicing all 8 verses:
.
Romans 5:1-8
.
1-2:
Therefore, since we have been __________ ___ ______,
we have ________
with ____
through our _____ ______ ______,
through whom we have gained ______ ___ ______
into this _______ ___ ______ ___ _____ ______.
And we ________ ___ ____ _____
of the ______ __ _____.
.
3-5:
Not only so, but we also ________ ___ ____ ___________,
because we know that __________ _________ ___________;
_____________, __________;
and __________, _____.
And _____ _____ ____ ___________ ___,
because ____
has _______ ____ ____ _____
into our _______
by the _____ _______,
whom ___ ____ _______ ___.
.
6-7:
You see, at just ____ ______ _____,
when we _____ _____ _________,
Christ ______ ____ _____ _______.
Very rarely will anyone ____ _____ __ _________ ___,
though for a ______ ____
someone might possibly _____ ____ ____
.
8:
But ____ _______
His ____ ______ ____ ___
in _____:
While we _____ ______ ________,
Christ _____ ____ ____."

.
Romans 5:1-8
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith,
we have peace with God
through our Lord Jesus Christ,
2 through whom we have gained access by faith
into this GRACE in which we now stand.
And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.
3 Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings,
because we know that suffering produces perseverance;
4 perseverance, character; and character, hope.
5 And hope does not disappoint us,
because God has poured out His love
into our hearts by the Holy Spirit,
whom He has given us.
6 You see, at just the right time,
when we were still powerless,
Christ died for the ungodly.
7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man,
though for a good man
someone might possibly dare to die.
8 But God demonstrates His own love for us in this:
While we were still sinners,
Christ died for us."

TABLE OF GRACE... A PLACE OF LOVING ONE ANOTHER...

On Sunday, I got a great glimpse of what "a table of grace" might look like. It was not highly formal nor was it steeped in ritual. It was a place of love and genuine concern where needs were being met.
.
After Sunday morning worship services, Steve and I were taking our daughter, Crystal, and her friend Shane out to Don Pablo's for lunch. We invited Brenda and her 3 little ones and Brian and Mandy that their 2 little ones to join us.
.
I'm so thankful for our military families! Our friends, Matt and Brenda, have been visiting while on their vacation. Matt ran in the NYC marathon and then returned to his military duty, while Brenda extended her stay with her 3 wee ones.
.
I'm so thankful for military wives, who must "hold down the fort" while the husband is away at another fort. Brenda's task has another twist to it, because in February she gave birth to twins to add to her one year old.
.
This mommy literally has her hands full!

As we all sat together, enjoying our food and the company of each other, I thought of several things:
  1. mutual love and understanding made for a pleasant experience - in spite of there being 5 pre-schoolers with many needs at the table.

  2. this scene brought our Sunday morning adult Bible class theme of "one another verses" to life.

  3. there was much there that was a visual of our Wednesday night study of Romans:

  4. this month's scripture memory made me smile as I listened to Brenda talk about how really hard some days are (suffering).... and how she has to set her mind to put one foot in front of the other (perseverance)... and how much she is learning from these experiences (character)... and how everyone tells her it will get better after the twins turn a year old (hope).... S.M.I.L.E.

.

The book of Romans uses the word GRACE 21 times as it paints a picture of our loving God and His family. It paints a picture of the TABLE OF GRACE:

  • 1:5-6 Through Him and for His name's sake, we received GRACE and apostleship to call people from among all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith

  • 1:7 To all in Rome who are loved by God and called to be saints:
GRACE and peace to you from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • 3:22-24 There is no difference, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by His GRACE through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

  • 4:16 ...the promise comes by faith, so that it may be by GRACE and may be guaranteed to all Abraham's offspring-not only to those who are of the law but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham.

  • 5:1-2 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this GRACE in which we now stand.

  • 5:15 But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God's GRACE and the gift that came by the GRACE of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!

  • 5:17 For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of GRACE and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.

  • 5:20-21 The law was added so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, GRACE increased all the more, so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also GRACE might reign through righteousness to bring eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

  • 6:1-2 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that GRACE may increase? By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?

  • 6:14-16 For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under GRACE. What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under GRACE? By no means!

  • 11:5-6 So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by GRACE. 6 And if by GRACE, then it is no longer by works; if it were, GRACE would no longer be GRACE.

  • 12:3 For by the GRACE given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.

  • 12:6 We have different gifts, according to the GRACE given us.

  • 15:15-16 I have written you quite boldly on some points, as if to remind you of them again, because of the GRACE God gave me to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles with the priestly duty of proclaiming the gospel of God, so that the Gentiles might become an offering acceptable to God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

  • 16:20 The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The GRACE of our Lord Jesus be with you.

TABLE OF GRACE... JOY FILLED...

MEDITATION MONDAY
.
On Friday, our youngest daughter came home for Thanksgiving. She really wanted to be with all of us, but especially her sister... her sister who suffers from chronic pain... her sister who modern medicine doesn't seem to be able to help... her sister who we have brought before God's throne over and over and over and over again.... yet her chronic pain remains.... there is a name, in part, for what she suffers from - intracranial hypertension. Where's the mercy? Where's the grace? I know it's there... by faith, I know it's there, yet at times like this weekend it's so hard to see...
.
Steve preached yesterday on THANKSGIVING ALL THE TIME...
.
Steve knows a man who has more than an attitude of thanksgiving... more than a gratitude attitude. This Holy Spirit filled and joy filled man:
  • comes from a great family heritage
  • is an extremely hard worker
  • is constantly on the move
  • has been in prison repeatedly
  • has been flogged severely
  • has been stoned
  • has been close to death repeatedly
  • has been shipwrecked and even left out in the open sea
  • has gone hungry
  • has been left naked and cold
  • has been in danger all over the world (from enemies, countrymen, and "false brothers in Christ")!!!!

.

I'll stop there! Steve knows this man because he knows God's word. This man, in spite of so much more than I listed above, wrote often about his joy in suffering. I have chosen to share some of the things he has written from 3 of his many books:

  • Romans 5:1-2 " Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this GRACE in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God."
  • Romans 5:3-4 "Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope."
  • Romans 5:11 "Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation."
  • Romans 12:11-12 "Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. 12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer..."
  • Romans 12:14-16 "Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. 16 Live in harmony with one another."
  • Romans 15:13 "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the HOLY SPIRIT. "
  • Romans 15: 32 "...I may come to you with joy and together with you be refreshed."
  • Romans 16:19-20 "Everyone has heard about your obedience, so I am full of joy over you; but I want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil. 20 The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you."
  • 2 Corinthians 2:3 "I had confidence in all of you, that you would all share my joy..."
  • 2 Corinthians 6:3-10 "We put no stumbling block in anyone's path, so that our ministry will not be discredited. 4 Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships and distresses; 5 in beatings, imprisonments and riots; in hard work, sleepless nights and hunger; 6 in purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the HOLY SPIRIT and in sincere love; 7 in truthful speech and in the power of God; with weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left; 8 through glory and dishonor, bad report and good report; genuine, yet regarded as impostors; 9 known, yet regarded as unknown; dying, and yet we live on; beaten, and yet not killed; 10 sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything."
  • 2 Corinthians 7:4 "I am greatly encouraged; in all our troubles my joy knows no bounds. "
  • 2 Corinthians 7:7 "He told us about your longing for me, your deep sorrow, your ardent concern for me, so that my joy was greater than ever. "
  • 2 Corinthians 8:1-2 "Out of the most severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity."
  • Galatians 5:22-23 "But the fruit of the SPIRIT is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control..."
.
Paul's life was full of HOLY SPIRIT living. He knew the SPIRIT, listened to the SPIRIT, was guided by the SPIRIT. His JOY, in part, sprang from a THANKFUL heart. He knew where MERCY and GRACE came from! In just the books of Romans, 1 and 2 Corinthians, Galatians, and Ephesians alone, he uses these words:
  • SPIRIT - 118 times
  • THANK (root)- 26 times
  • JOY (root) -28 times
  • MERCY - 17 times
  • GRACE - 59 times

Today, I will continue to meditate on and allow God's Spirit to guide me as He works to grow His fruit in me. I will come to the TABLE OF GRACE and beg Him for relief for our daughter, Jessica, because I know HE IS ABLE!

TABLE OF GRACE...

SUNDAY IN THE SON

As we enter our nation's "Thanksgiving week", I can think of no better invitation for Thanksgiving dinner than this week's theme song. Yet, the meaning is so much deeper! It also connects us with our wonderful scripture memory for this month.... AND although there's just an excerpt of the song playing on the playlist, the words to the entire song are written here, with the words being sung on the playlist highlighted in bold:

.
TABLE OF GRACE

as sung by Phillips, Craig, & Dean

.

Hear the good news, you've been invited

No matter what others may say,

Your darkest sins will be forgiven

You will always have a place.

.

At the table of GRACE the cup's never empty.

The plate's always full and it's never too late.

To come and be filled with love never ending

You're always welcome at the table of GRACE.

.

So come weak, and heavy hearted (heavy hearted)

Don't try to hide your earthly scars
In His eyes, we all are equal (yes, we are)

Don't be afraid, come as you are.

.

At the table of GRACE the cup's never empty.
The plate's always full, and it's never too late.

To come and be filled with love never ending

You're always welcome at the table of GRACE.

(Instrumental break)

.

So let the first become the last

Let the poor put kings to shame.

Their willing hearts will be their treasure

By the power of Jesus' name!

.

At the table of GRACE the cup's never empty

The plate's always full, and it's never too late

To come and be filled with love never ending

You're always welcome at the table of GRACE.

.

At the table of GRACE the cup's never empty.

The plate's always full, and it's never too late

To come and be filled with love never ending:

You're always welcome at the table.

Everyone's welcome at the table of GRACE.

REVELATION...IN SCRIPTURE... IN CREATION...

KETCHUP AND MUSTARD SATURDAY
Catch Up and Must Do

Some people don't like mustard. Some don't like ketchup. Some like neither! I'm sure that there is something out there that meets everyone's need for flavoring food!
.
There is another kind of food with much flavor.... spiritual food... in God's Word, there is something amazing... it really has what we NEED for life and godliness! I'm thinking what our July scripture memory said about this subject and I marvel.
.
Recently, I shared about the scriptures that we are writing on the foundation of our new church building floor. It is still a work in progress! Here are more scriptures, sent by our two sons and one daughter-in-love that I added yesterday:

.

As I connect with Caleb, Krista's, and Jordan's choices for scripture, I see the beauty that scripture reveals about our Creator. I also look around me this fall season and I think of the continued beauty I see in creation that reveals our Creator. I've seen a lot of deer around South Jersey and in Pennsylvania... AND the colors are GORGEOUS!!!! We praise You LORD for the great things you have done!

REVELATION... CROSS WALKING REFLECTIONS...

It's been 23 years and 7 months since she came to live on this planet and changed my life for the better! I haven't seen our youngest daughter since July. She's flying in this evening for a visit. I'm so excited!
.

Yes! She's her mommy's daughter, but she is sooooo her daddy's little girl!
.

.
.
When did this daughter of ours grow up? What a wonderful transformation inside and out!
.

I love it that I can call my daughter "sister". It was years ago that she made the decision to begin her life in Christ and begin the CROSS WALK. The journey has not been easy, but as our scripture memory says... it's about:

  • faith
  • peace
  • grace
  • rejoicing
  • struggle
  • perseverance
  • character
  • hope
  • love

The journey is about life in Christ!

.
Of our immediate family, Crystal and I are the only ones who frequent Facebook. It must have something to do with our common social gene. What a gift, to watch her journey of humanity and spirituality from afar. Her status updates make this mother smile. Here are a few:

REVELATION...CROSS WALK...

TRANSFORMING THURSDAY
.
Romans 5:6-7
You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous (wo)man, though for a good (wo)man someone might possibly dare to die.

Romans 6:3-7
Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
5 If we have been united with Him like this in His death, we will certainly also be united with Him in His resurrection. 6 For we know that
our old self was crucified with Him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin- 7 because anyone who has died has been freed from sin.

Romans 5:1-8 .
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this GRACE in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. . 3 Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us. . 6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. . 8 But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

REVELATION... JESUS DIED FOR ALL ORPHANS!

.

You've heard 3 stories on this blog over the last two years that connect to my post today. From left to right, in the picture below, are:

  • Lisa (second from left) - you've read and seen the amazing story of her husband Chip - as on the video posted above.
  • Nan, (fourth from left) was prayed for by many readers of this blog in February of 2009. We prayed when Nan and Ron's son Connor's body was first attacked by MRSA. Then, we grieved and prayed with them when Connor passed from this life on February 17, 2009.
  • Pam, (fifth from left) also understands the deep pain of losing a son. She has taken her grief and poured herself out by using her pain for the glory of God. She has organized a phenomenal ministry to orphaned children!

.

You can find some of my initial posts on these ladies and their families by clicking on their names.
.
Two days ago was "Orphan Sunday". Many churches collected money for various ministries to orphan's. Are you aware that there are millions of orphans in this world today? Did you know that it is estimated that the number of orphans worldwide would make up half the population of the USA? The women in this picture below have taken their experiences with grief / pain and turned it in joy and service. They are doing something to help orphans- in Ghana! The stories are wonderful and gut wrenching.

.

This airport photo was taken on 11/5. I am so thankful that these blood bought, sisters in Christ, are on an incredible journey in Ghana, Africa. To follow their story (taking place right now) CLICK HERE. and then scroll down to at least November 4th on the FB posts.

Be encouraged! Be grateful! Pray!
